21 st century Neuroscience is a rapidly growing large-scale scientific enterprise. Despite enormous investment in the past 20 years Neuroscience R&D has done little to hold the rising tide of brain diseases whose cost may soon reach 10% of the world GDP (PIB).
Brain diseases represent some of the greatest societal and scientific challenges for academia, pharma, the biotech industry, and for public investments worldwide, due to the immense and increasing burden generated by patients on healthcare systems and the complexity of the disease.
